Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) is a common disorder in men. Surgical treatment is mandatory in men who have developed complications of BPH such as recurrent urinary retention, urinary infections, renal failure, refractory hematuria etc. Moreover, surgery provides best clinical success in terms of improving symptoms and urinary flow. Classically, transurethral prostate resection (TURP) is accepted as the gold standard surgical procedure for BPH. Recent years, laser prostatectomy has been introduced as a minimal invasive option with lower complication rates. It is also associated with shorter hospitalization and catheterization times. Main objective of any treatment modality is to improve quality of life (QoL) of the patients. Therefore, the efficacy of laser prostatectomy on QoL should also be compared.
