Today, the number of treatment alternatives for small kidney tumors which are diagnosed smaller in size is increasing with shifting concept. Today, focal ablative techniques, “Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and cryoablation (CA)” are emerging important treatment alternatives. The current research subjects for improving the efficacy of CA are appropriate placement of cryotherapy probes, and revealing the relation between ice ball and normal kidney tissue exactly. In the treatment of small renal tumors, CA could be preferred in appropriate indications and selected patients with low complication rates and satisfactory oncologic results in short-medium term. Despite the short followup period, RFA has become important with no disruption of kidney function, lower implementation costs, and similar complication rates with CA.
