Although urinary incontinence is not a life-threatening condition, it impairs the person's quality of life and psychology. The most important factor in male urinary incontinence is surgical interventions to prostate. Incontinence rates after operations done for benign disorders are low and differ between 0.8- 4 %. Incontinence in early period after prostatectomy can be due to sphincter and detrussor pathology; but incontinence lasting more than 1 year is generally due to sphincter insufficiency. Treatment options include conservative, pharmacologic and surgical treatment. Despite some disadvantages, artificial sphincter is still the gold standard treatment for post-prostatectomy incontinence.
