ABSTRACT

The diagnosis and treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, which is the most common cause of lower urinary tract symptoms of aging male, has been rapidly developing. The emerge of new treatment options as alternative to prostatectomy accelerated this development. In the last 50 years, many new diagnostic and treatment options have emerged. However, only a small part of them prove their success with in the borders of “evidence-based medicine”. Most of the first choice of past, is no longer recommended in the diagnosis and treatment. In this review, diagnosis and treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia were implemented in the historical process, but over time have lost their importance have been reviewed.
