ABSTRACT
Recent studies caused major advances in understanding and treating of lower urinary tract symptoms associated with BPH in male patients. These symptoms may relate to bladder outlet obstruction caused by an enlarged prostate or to overactive bladder syndrome and/or detrusor dysfunction caused by aging bladder. With the growing knowledge of the underlying pathologies, we are today able to better treat these patients and increase their quality of life more than yesterday.
The present article aims to review the diagnostic modalities and treatment alternatives of the male lower urinary tract symptoms with regard to the guidelines.
