ABSTRACT
The accurate localization and characterization of prostate cancer have a major role in the management of individual prostate cancer patients and in monitoring treatment effects. The success of new techniques (Laparoscopic / robotic prostatectomy, nerve sparing surgery and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) etc.) used in the treatment of prostate cancer depends on the detection of tumor by non-invasive modalities. Routine imaging investigations have many limitations in detection and localization of prostatic tumor. In this article we reviewed current and novel imaging modalities in the prostate cancer detection. Impact and feasibility of these modalities were discussed with knowledge of the literature
