ABSTRACT

Aim:

Chronic prostatitis is a recent investigating factor in develepment, progression and treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The new developments in this subject should be kept in mind in initial examination and medical treatment of BPH. It makes positive contribution on semptomatic treatment and quality of life. We aimed to evaluate the actual studies about the relationship between chronic prostatitis and BPH in this review.

New Findings:

We evaluated the pathophysiology, immunology and antienflamatuar treatment of chronic prostatitis according to recent multi center studies.

In conclusion, we thought that the importance of chronic prostatitis in development of BPH should be kept in mind in evaluation of lower urinary tract symptoms and treatment of BPH.
