ABSTRACT

Urolithiasis is one of the most common late complications of urinary diversion. The underlying etiology of urolithiasis in this group of patients is often multifactorial. Urinary diversion causes some anatomical and metabolic considerations those may increase risk of urolithiasis. The most common types of stones identified in these patients are composed of struvite or calcium phosphate. Upper urinary tract stones usually present in a similar manner to those in the general population. The presentation of stones in urinary diversion may be variable. Standart imaging and special imaging such as loopogram or pouchogram are required for diagnosis. The type of urinary diversion may effect the treatment options of urolithiasis. Endourological procedures have become the mainstay of therapy for stones in these patients. It is recommended to follow-up these patients after initial treatmet because of high recurrence rate of urolithiasis.
